Over the weekend, we were excited to bring our lifesaving education and resources to Zombie Apocalypse at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Alongside training thousands of Headliners, our Events Coordinator Grace Adler and photographer Ethan Bartley met up with a range of amazing DJs and producers to create lifesaving content.
Reflecting on the weekend and our artist collaborations, Grace says, “This was my first year leading Apocalypse and it was awesome! The volunteers were crushing their trainings and we broke our record of most people trained at Apocalypse, training a total of 1,300 people and distributing 2,600 doses. Super grateful for the team and all the great work!“
Ethan adds, “This was my second Apocalypse with End Overdose – this year was so special. I felt the PLUR all throughout and patrons were attentive and intrigued with getting trained.”
While we were onsite, we had the chance to speak with some brilliant artists including 2DY4, Green Matter, Hostage Situation, and HVDES about everything from personal fun facts to recurring set staples.
Read on below for all of the quick-hitting interviews and make sure to catch us at another festival near you!
2DY4

What’s one track that’s been a staple in your sets this year?
Every single set I play, I always have to play my collab with JEANIE, “RAGE.” That’s one of my favorite songs ever and I don’t think I’ll ever stop playing it.
What's one fun fact about you that people should know?
One fun fact about me is growing up, I was a classically trained ballet dancer, and I don't think that anyone knows that.
What’re you looking forward to after Apocalypse?
Next up is gonna be Lost Lands and that is just gonna be insane!
Green Matter

What’s one track that’s been a staple in your sets this year?
I've done a “Gold Dust” flip that's on SoundCloud, and I've been playing that in pretty much every single one of my sets, and it's awesome [laughs].
What's one fun fact about you that people should know?
My first concert ever was Grateful Dead at Red Rocks when I was three years old.
What’re you looking forward to after Apocalypse?
Definitely Lost Lands. I'm so excited to be back. It's gonna be my third year!
Hostage Situation

What's one fun fact about you that people should know?
#1 It's definitely “Burn For You.” It’s the main track on our newest album. It’s the crux of our production madness of being free, being a trio in the scene.
What's one fun fact about you that people should know?
#1 - I think a fun fact is I've been playing viola semi-professionally for 14 years.
#2 - I can kick flips sometimes.
#3 - I can kick flip more than him [laughs]. The real one, though, is how all this started was us being homies and making music in the basement, and then we ended up making this amazing thing that this has turned into. It's everything that we've ever dreamed of. If you're reading this, and you're fucking with it, thank you very much. It means the entire world.
What’re you looking forward to after Apocalypse?
I think after Apocalypse, we're just looking forward to the rest of festival season and having fun meeting all of you – having a good ass time with my two best buds.
HVDES

What’s one track that’s been a staple in your sets this year?
My song “Haunt U” that just came out on my recent EP, my remix for HEALTH, as well as my unreleased tunes with Nimda & Flux Pavilion which will be coming your way soon!
What's one fun fact about you that people should know?
I've been sober for over 6 years & working with End Overdose is something very near and dear to my heart.
What’re you looking forward to after Apocalypse?
I have lots of music coming out and I’m working on a run of headline shows for later in the year!
