End Overdose is made possible by hundreds of volunteers working tirelessly across the country. Some of them are training attendees at national festivals on how to respond to an overdose, while others are packing naloxone kits in our office well into the evening hours. We want to shine a light on the people whose efforts make our resources free and accessible to all, so we’re excited to share our Volunteers of the Week: Jordan Jaloma and Erick Perez!
Our director of community engagement and training AJ Banuelos says, "Erick and Jordan are the package deal at End Overdose! They have done numerous events, helping us raise awareness! Always dependable at festivals and in the office! They have packaged and unboxed hundreds of doses of naloxone together. Thank you Erick and Jordan for being a part of the End Overdose Team!"
Can you tell us about yourself and your stories?
Hi! Our names are Erick and Jordan. We have so much love and respect for End Overdose. We both share very similar interests in the rave community and with opioid overdose prevention. I’m a part of the public health field and Jordan is a part of the mental health field which also ties into End Overdose.
What inspired you to volunteer for End Overdose?
Once we realized the epidemic of what’s been happening in the music community, we felt it was our time to contribute and educate others around us. We see the impact we are making to this community and it’s what drives us to keep going and volunteering.
How and when did you meet via End Overdose?
We met both working Skyline 2025. It was Erick’s first time working a festival, and ever since then, myself and Erick clicked and have been doing events. We see ourselves continuing to volunteer and hope to take on even bigger leadership opportunities in the future.
What’s your favorite memory of volunteering (together or separate) with End Overdose?
Our favorite moment was most likely Skyline 2025, because it was the day I met my partner in crime. We thank End Overdose for bringing us together.Â
