Volunteer of the Week: Magen White

by End Overdose

End Overdose is made possible by hundreds of volunteers working tirelessly across the country. Some of them are training attendees at national festivals on how to respond to an overdose, while others are packing naloxone kits in our office well into the evening hours. We want to shine a light on the people whose efforts make our resources free and accessible to all, so we’re excited to share our Volunteer of the Week: Magen White!

"Since joining the Atlanta chapter in 2023, Magen White has been a driving force behind our growth and presence in the Atlanta community. Before there was even a team to support events, Magen showed up to nearly every one, helping make them possible and building many of the connections our chapter relies on today," says Chapter & Operations Coordinator Olive Younts. "She brings creativity and heart to everything she does, adding interactive elements like crafts that make our booth welcoming, engaging, and unforgettable."

Can you tell us about yourself?

I’m a very silly creative girl, I work as a stagehand and I am really passionate about the arts.

What inspired you to volunteer for End Overdose?

My friend, Olive, told me about it in the summer of 2024 and I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of this mission. I’m deeply passionate about ending stigmas and preventing senseless harm, and I felt like there was nothing more important than being a part of a cause like this.

What are your favorite memories of volunteering with End Overdose?

My favorite memory of volunteering is kinda sad. One of my first times tabling was at a memorial fundraiser for the family of an accidental overdose victim. Our presence there brought so much comfort and a sense of purpose to grieving people, and it really solidified and validated my reason for doing this. Being able to give a community the exact tools that they need to prevent another tragedy from happening is invaluable.Â
