End Overdose is made possible by hundreds of volunteers working tirelessly across the country. Some of them are training attendees at national festivals on how to respond to an overdose, while others are packing naloxone kits in our office well into the evening hours. We want to shine a light on the people whose efforts make our resources free and accessible to all, so we’re excited to share our Volunteer of the Week: Ethan Bartley!
"Ethan is a rockstar of a volunteer," says Director of Communications Mike Giegerich. "His passion for training people how to identify and respond to an overdose is contagious (and he's a brilliant photographer who I've been able to recently work with onsite at festivals). Thanks for everything you do for End Overdose, Ethan!"
Ethan's background and story
Hi hello my name is Ethan I'm a California native that grew up in the Bay Area and moved down to LA after college. I never wanted to be on stage when I was younger but my parents saw something in me and the way I acted, probably the undiagnosed ADHD, but I went from performing on to stage to the screen and then in the editing room. Now I'm a full time creative! Working in media and content for different artists and live events and I wouldn't change a thing.Â
What inspired Ethan to volunteer for End Overdose?
I really wanted to be able to give back somehow to the communities that raised me. Stumbling upon End Overdose at an Industry Hours event, I saw how I can help the rave community and dance my little butt off too. Everyone was so helpful and excited to be there and helping out.
Ethan's favorite memories of volunteering with End Overdose
Oh wow every festival and event is different but I always go back to the people. Every member is so dedicated and open and feeling the sense of solidarity and fellowship with everyone keeps me coming back again and again. I'm so grateful I can call End Overdose my community but also my family.
