End Overdose Stakeholder Update: August 2025

Mike Giegerich here! I’m End Overdose’s Director of Communications. It’s been a jam-packed summer for our employees and volunteers all across the country, so I’m excited to share what we’ve been up to over the past month with our latest, August 2025 stakeholder update. Whether it’s meeting music fans in person at festivals with rapid trainings or sending residents free naloxone and fentanyl test strips after they take our online training, we’re making a sizable impact that can be quantified in eye-popping numbers while also qualified in the stories we hear and lives saved by this essential work.

Read on below for all of the highlights from the past month, learn about our initiatives, and consider volunteering for End Overdose to contribute to months like these if you’re not already a member of our amazing volunteer team. Together, we can end overdose. No one else has to die!

OUR NATIONWIDE OUTREACH

In August of 2025, we reached over 371,000 people, distributed over 15,000 doses of naloxone, trained over 8,800 people, and distributed over 1,700 fentanyl test strips. The reasons behind this outreach being possible are twofold.

First, our employees and volunteers were on the ground at 70 events nationwide. That includes HARD Summer, Splash House, Bass Canyon, Breakaway Michigan and Massachusetts, Dabin at Expo Park, Wasteland, North Coast, and many more shows, where it becomes crystal clear that concert and festival goers are as passionate as we are about overdose prevention and response. We have to specifically thank Lil Texas, LAYZ, HVDES, LYNY, Hairitage, Alyssa Jolee, Seth David, and many more artists for stopping by our booths at these festivals to help raise awareness.

Second, our diversified online training offerings have made it possible to reach even more residents. Alongside our classic, 20-minute training course with videos produced by our creative advisor Zej Radke, this year we’ve unveiled the alpha stage of Narcat’s World, a charming, quick-hitting video game that takes players through a pixelated overdose response scenario. It’s an intense yet charming experience that gives people all the tools they need to identify and respond to an overdose.

It's also exciting to mention that we distributed over 30,000 doses of naloxone in Arkansas and trained multiple areas of their DHS in August alone. With a dedicated End Overdose Arkansas team, we're thrilled to help make the Natural State a safer, resource-saturated region.

With our multi-pronged approach to preventing, identifying, and responding to overdoses, we’re reaching hundreds of thousands of people a month and making our mission to equip all United States residents with this education possible.

OUR ARTIST COLLABORATIONS

At End Overdose, we recognize that social media users are especially apt to pay attention to their favorite artists, musicians, influencers, and other personalities. Thus, our collaborations with creatives are essential to spreading lifesaving tools to people across TikTok, Instagram, and more.

One of our most exciting collaborations to date involved Shaquille O'Neal (AKA DJ Diesel) donating a portion of proceeds from his Brownies & Lemonade pop-up show at 1720 to End Overdose. We're grateful to Shaq and his team for supporting our work – it's not every day that a storied NBA champion and cultural icon brings attention to overdose prevention and response!

In August of 2025, we joined forces again with Saint Arson for a digital campaign that saw over 413,000 views between Instagram and TikTok alone. Saint Arson’s signature style resonates with audiences looking for edgy yet engaging content and aligns precisely with End Overdose’s experimental aesthetic to reach all audiences.

We additionally collaborated with Hera Sfikas – also known as sunflowerraver – on videos championing our collective outreach since 2021 and educating people on the trajectory of xylazine in the drug supply. Hera has over 700,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok alone, so her reach and influence within the rave community (that’s championed End Overdose since day one) made collaborating a no-brainer.

We further collaborated with musician and holder of masters degree in pharmaceutical sciences Julia Alexa on videos explaining the rise of 7-OH (an opioid unregulated by the FDA on the national marketplace) and how to use fentanyl test strips. The video covering 7-OH was especially important because we want to keep our followers informed at the cutting edge of drug trends across the country.

Finally, for International Overdose Awareness Day, we teamed up with our friends at Ketaily Technical Consulting to show how to identify and respond to an overdose. Founded by a father-and-son duo with over 45 collective years of experience in Southern California fire departments, Mike and Tim Ketaily are experts in all forms of emergency response, from crisis communications and risk assessments, to fire, life, and safety preparedness. Teaming up with professionals like Mike and Tim is crucial to End Overdose’s mission!

OUR CHAPTERS AND VOLUNTEERS

We're proud to share key highlights from across the country including End Overdose Boston raising over $2,200 for our nonprofit in a silent auction, End Overdose Atlanta training festival staffs for the Mayor's Office of Atlanta, our brand new Auburn chapter distributing 374 doses of naloxone at their first event, and the overall onboarding of 27 new chapters (including 6 high schools) to massively increase our on-the-ground outreach nationwide.

At End Overdose, we’re composed of over 1,500 volunteers and 70 chapters, so everyone's efforts are crucial and endlessly appreciated. This month, we specifically spotlighted volunteers Diane Ngyuen from Long Beach and Salar Hatef from Orange County alongside chapters at the University of Arkansas and UC Berkeley.
